Friends? Friends!

When Lauraine Snelling and I met each other, we liked each other right away. You’ll see when you read Dog Daze, Book #1 of The S.A.V.E Squad, that is not true for the four girls! They have nothing in common but their differences and that pesky neighbor boy, CP, doesn’t help things.

I didn’t raise my hand!

Lauraine and I met at a writer’s conference where she was teaching. I remember she asked us to raise our hands if we were a writer. I didn’t raise my hand! Do you know why? Because I was quite discouraged about my writing stories. I seemed to be writing forever and nobody wanted to buy them and turn them into a “real” book.

Later, over lunch, we talked more and our friendship took off from there. We found out we like dogs and having adventures, as well as writing stories.

And then…

Here’s the good part. I wrote and wrote some more. Then I quit again and thought, “Nobody wants my stories about four girls and a neighbor boy who rescue animals.” So I stopped writing. Period. Very shortly after that, I received a VERY EXCITED phone call from Lauraine. Someone wanted to buy our stories!

So here we are.

Ready to jump into the adventures of Sunny, Aneta, Vee, and Esther. And oh, yes, CP.

We’d like to see pictures of your pets! Email us at either:

lauraine@thesavesquad.com or kathleen@thesavesquad.com. (Be sure to ask your parents if it’s okay to send pictures of your dogs, cats, or whatever else you have!)

More yayness!

The next book in the series, The Great Cat Caper, comes out in September. Here’s a sneak peek at what that’s about (but not a lot ’cause I know you like surprises!):

No, she’s not like those dumpster cats nobody wants that weird lady feeds outside the Community Center.

Is she?

Since she’s not sure where she belongs in her newly blended family, she must keep her spot as the smartest Squadder and her secret.

But that’s threatened even as the cats are threatened. The Squad schemes to rescue them and turn them into perfect pets for The Great Cat Caper Adoption. Finding out who they are is as much a struggle for Vee as for the cats.

Will the cats be perfect pets by the time Everything Animal TV show arrives? Will Vee trust the girls with her secret?

That’s all for  now!

Hope you have adventures. I know I will!
